Samuel B. Adams, Jr., MD, FAAOS, FAOA, is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center and Director of Foot and Ankle Research.
He is a surgeon-scientist and innovator whose work focuses on advancing orthopaedic care through emerging technologies, including 3D printing, orthobiologics, and regenerative medicine.
Dr. Adams has led pioneering efforts in the development and clinical application of patient-specific 3D-printed implants and novel cartilage restoration strategies for complex foot and ankle conditions.
His research portfolio includes federally and foundation-funded projects exploring tissue engineering, biologic therapies, and next-generation surgical materials.
Dr. Adams has authored nearly 300 peer-reviewed publications, holds multiple patents related to orthopaedic devices, and frequently collaborates with engineers, industry partners, and regulatory stakeholders to bring innovative technologies from bench to bedside.
